Patience; that’s what they said. And, albeit, a better response than the mystifying “2 weeks” mantra surrounding prominent Audi tuners’ product release dates spanning the last decade, it still offered little fuel for the fire that is Audi’s return to the forced induction world.
As if the agonizing years of toting a subtly recognizable V8 growl – in hopes that it might quench the envy of watching BMW’s pretty little piggyback-tuned twin turbo product whiz by – were not enough to pique our collective interests in future modifications for the new supercharged B8 Audi S4 (read: 3.0 TFSI), we were forced to watch APR’s Grand Sport Class Audi S4 compete knowing that Audi’s prominent tuning company would not have left the engine alone.
Ok, so big whoop, APR’s DynaPak dyno revealed a surprising 330.67 AWHP and 336.09 AWTQ (after SAE correction) on their bone-stock 2010 Audi S4. This only confirmed the suspicions of many Audi fanbois that the numbers issued by Audi (333 crank hp) were, in fact, understated. The more important question was whether the new version of Audi’s S-line poster-child would allow for any notable power increase with upgraded ECU [Electronic Control Unit] software, like it’s grandfather – the B5 chassis 2.7t S4.

The verdict: undeniably, YES! APR has just released its Audi S4 3.0TFSI ECU upgrade and it proves to be worth the wait.
Horsepower increased (peak to peak numbers) by 35 awhp and torque jumped by 18 ft-lbs, however an overall power difference of 77 awhp and 57 ft-lb torque is available throughout the power band.

In a surprising twist, however, APR is not the only software provider for the B8 S4. STaSIS Engineering, the famed suspension tuner and dealership tuning package extraordinaire, subsequently released software for the 3.0TFSI powered S4. Although they share nearly identical hp curves, torque curves and output numbers (some coincidence perhaps??) – and are identically priced, STaSIS has stepped up to help you retain your factory 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. To clarify, STaSIS has a program in place that is available through their dealership network only, which would cover repairs to any damage caused by the software. The caveat for either software is that your ECU must be removed and sent out in order to be flashed with the corresponding product, as opposed to the normal software installation procedure performed on site at Avalon Motorsports. Fortunately, Avalon Motorsports is both, your Denver APR distributor and Denver STaSIS distributor.
