Mike, because the 3.0L Audi engine does not utilize the FSI technology, it is likely another issue.

Where are you located? If you are in Denver, Avalon Motorsports is proud to have one of our Audi expert technicians diagnose the issue for you.

Does this happen on the 3.0? I have an A4 with a 3.0 that has misfire codes. I've changed the plugs, coils and tried swapping injectors, but still get misfrire codes.

Hey Ryan, thank you for your notes and congrats on some nice Audi S4 performance upgrades!

We offer the RS4 front bumper with the fog lights and necessary mounting hardware. We also offer the RS4 shift knob. Feel free to email us to get further pricing information.

Perhaps Dante can chime in on the other items, however the vehicle is currently with a new owner.

Hey there, your S4 is really nice! I dig the color and I'm all about the sleeper concept myself. Where I live in Michigan (Detroit suburbs) there are a ton of showy, "look at me" cars, everything from wildly tuned and modded "American Muscle" to all sorts of exotics such as Lambos, Ferraris and the like. There's also a ton of beat up old junkers with nothing other than a huge motor and a couple of seats in them, as well as boatloads of 100-horse Neons and Hondas with massive wings and NOS stickers (only rarely do those types actually HAVE the spray of course). It's always refreshing to see a well done German sleeper like yours, as there aren't that many of those around here. The upside for me though is that there's tons of cars to embarrass and leave undressed in the wake of my Audi's exhaust!
Anyway, down to business. I've been in need of a complete overhaul of my S4's front end. I've done some research and have decided that I very much want an RS4 front bumper, but from what I've read it seems that the OEM Audi parts won't fit directly onto the S4, and also considering the difference in wheel well arches between the S4 and RS4, there would be a big gap where the RS4 front bumper meets the S4's stock fenders. I've also found several aftermarket kits for RS4 "look-alike" front ends that are supposedly designed to fit, but historically I don't trust very many of those aftermarket bumpers and I don't want something that will require hours and hours of Bondo/filler/sanding/test fitting/reshaping/etc. from a supposedly "new" and "perfect fit" product. So, that leads me to my question for you: what exactly is your RS4 front bumper and where did you get it? Is it the actual OEM parts? How much work was it to get it installed? And also, what about the ancillary stuff like the foglights, headlight washer systems and the grille inserts, are they all OEM? I know from my research that the RS4 front bumper uses it's own foglights rather than the ones on the S4 but what about the headlight washers? Are those from your S4 or did you have to purchase ones that are specific to the RS4?
Also one last question. Where did you source your RS4 shifter knob? Is that something that can be ordered at an Audi dealer or is it from a tuning shop? Would you be able to send a photo of it to my email (kineticsound@me.com)?
Thanks for your time, and for giving the Internet world the story of your S4, it is very nice. In case you are wondering about mine, here's some basic info. It's a sleeper also. It's a 2000 in Cactus Green Pearl Effect (probably the rarest color for S4's, in fact I've never seen a single other one in real life, only on the Internet...), low miles and only one previous owner who babied it, kept it in a garage and only drove it during the summers. When I bought it a couple of years ago it had 36,000 on it! At this point it has the following mods: APR Stage II+, custom APR ECU software for 93 octane plus a 100 octane race program, APR Y-Pipe, Samco hoses, Bailey DV's, Neuspeed Intake, LLTek downpipes and full 3" exhaust, Koni coilover kit, LLTek upper strut-tie, Neuspeed swaybars, AWE drivetrain stabilizer, ECS two-piece cross-drilled and slotted rotors, EBC RedStuff pads, RS4 front grille, EFU 4U digital boost gauge system (it's a little computer box that attaches into the radio's wiring harness and displays the boost pressure on the dot-matrix display between the speedo and the tach, on the topmost section where it normally displays radio station information. It's fed from a traditional vacuum line. It also shows maximum boost, oil temp, battery volts and road speed, and a button on the right-hand windshield washer stalk controls it....VERY sleeper and VERY slick imo).

Anyway, thanks again and I hope to hear back from you, as I have been researching RS4 front bumpers for a long time now and I have yet to come up with any conclusive plan.

Thanks for the reply!

The costs vary depending on procedure but we'd be glad to discuss it in further detail with you.

Don't let this deter you, Audi makes some fine automobiles. The good news is that there are some follow-up protocols Avalon Motorsports has developed to help contain the carbon build-up issues. With regard to the oil burning, it really depends on the model and maintenance history.

Once this contamination happens, what is the cost for a reputable service shop to remove this buildup ?

It gives me real pause about owning an Audi, given their engines burn a lot of oil and extended warranties appear to be iffy at best.
