Signs of Faulty Suspension
Believe it or not, our vehicles rely on much more than just an oil change and tire rotation every few months. They need to be given the attention they deserve in order to provide you with a safe and smooth drive. In our previous post, we gave a few benefits of having your Volkswagen’s shock absorbers repaired or replaced, but how are you supposed to know that your car needs new shock absorbers or a suspension system repair in the first place? Here are signs that point to needing a suspension repair.
Your car rides roughly.
If your car is riding much more rough compared to what you’re used to, it’s a sign that your car’s shocks or struts are going out. You shouldn’t be feeling every bump in the road.
Your car is drifting or pulling while making a turn.
Suspensions should be equalizing your car out. If you are feeling your car pull or drift while driving, the shocks are no longer helping to equalize and stabilize your car’s body.
Does your car make a nose dive when stopping?
If you break firmly, your car should be staying level. When your shocks are going out, the vehicle body may lurch forward, making a nose dive. This not only takes away the ability to brake safely, but it could increase your stop time by up to 20%.
Check out the tires.
If your car’s tire treads are uneven, you should have your suspension system checked. This is a symptom of suspensions going out, making your ride much more uneven.
